Charles E. Berg

He was born Dec. 25, 1930 in South Dayton NY, the son of the late Martin Christopher and Nancy L. (Lutz) Berg.

Charlie was a 1949 graduate of Randolph Central School and was a retired 36 years employee of Webber Knapp in Jamestown. In earlier years, he had worked for Terry Lumber in Ellington and the former Randolph Feed & Supply Co. Charlie was a Veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War era, Feb. 21, 1952 to Feb. 6, 1954.

He was a member of the Randolph United Presbyterian Church, Randolph Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6533, Randolph American Legion Post 181 and former Salamanca Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and great grandchildren, walking around town and bowling. He and his father were also a well-known Horse Pulling Team and won many contests.

He is preceded by his parents, Martin and Nancy and step mother, Mary Berg, his wife of 62 years; Marian R. Bossman Berg, whom he married Sept. 23, 1950 and who preceded him on Jan. 13, 2013, siblings; Lester and Douglas Berg, Evelyn Seeley, Violet Hurst and Mary Alice Stotts.

He is survived by a daughter, Marta Berg Johnson (Jeff) of Frewsburg; two grand-daughters, Autumn Hill Ferguson and husband DJ of Charlotte NC, and Amber Riddell and husband Jon of Kennedy; great grandchildren, Lorenzo Hill Ferguson and Rosemary Leigh Riddell, siblings, Loretta (Ron) Ron Adams and James (Althea) Berg, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Friday, Nov. 21, 2025 from the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, NY 14772. Services will follow at 4 PM Friday with Daniel McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery.
