Alma L. Ognibene

Alma L. Ognibene, 98, of Falconer passed away Friday, November. 7, 2025 peacefully with her family by her side in Heritage Park Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Jamestown, New York.

A lifelong area resident; she was born on December 30, 1926 in Jamestown, the daughter of Sabatino and Josephine Damiani Martinelli.

Alma was a graduate of Jamestown High School and in earlier years was employed by Hope’s Windows. Prior to retirement she was employed by Falconer Central School as a teachers’ aide.

She was a member of Our Lady of Loreto (OLL) Catholic Church, the OLL Altar and Rosary Society and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Alma enjoyed spending time with her family, including weekly pasta night with her grandchildren, and she was active in Falconer community activities. Alma was an avid reader, and her other interests included cooking, preparing all year for Christmas Eve, gardening, classical music, and watching a range of television from Jeopardy to Survivor.

Surviving are six children: Dr. Frederick Ognibene of Washington, DC; Samuel Ognibene of Falconer, Vincent (Debra) Ognibene of Frewsburg, Michael (Max) Ognibene of New York City, John (Kim) Ognibene of Falconer, Grace Marie (Greg) Dahl of West Palm Beach, FL; eight grandchildren: Nicole (Jeff) Rankin, Adrianna (Carol) Ognibene, Tiffany Ognibene, Jonathan (Katie) Ognibene, Dr. Alex (Dr. Alyssa) Ognibene, Kyle Dahl, Justin (Brittany) Dahl, and Arcadia Santos Valentin; four great grandchildren: Jude Dahl, Valentine Ognibene, Margot Dahl, and Corey Ognibene; her sister Agnes Russell of Valencia, California, as well as several bonus great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death in 1997 by her husband Dr. Vincent L. Ognibene whom she married Oct. 11, 1952 in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church,; a sister Mary Murphy, and a brother Dominic Martinelli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Monday, Nov. 10, 2025 in St. John’s Catholic Church, 270 Newton Ave., Jamestown. Rev. Paul Cygan will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 2:00 pm to 4 pm Sunday, November 9, 2025 in the Falconer Funeral Home.
