Shon M. “Mike” Gustafson
Shon M. “Mike” Gustafson, 62, of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, in his home. Mike was born Aug. 6, 1962, in Corpus Christi, Texas, a son of John and Mary (French) Gustafson.
A 1981 graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School, Mike participated in marching band (trumpet), football, wrestling, track, and stage crew. He was employed for 25 plus years at the Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant in various roles.
Mike was also a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Celoron Moose Club and a longtime member of the Gerry Free Methodist Church.
In his free time Mike enjoyed many outdoor activities. Gardening (hot peppers and tomatoes), hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, snow and water skiing kept him active, but his passion was grilling and sharing meals with his family. He grilled with every utensil imaginable earning the affectionate title of “Grill Master” from his family. Each summer, Mike attended Kingdom Bound, a Christian music festival at Darien Lake with his wife and sons.
Mike will be remembered as having the warmest of hearts, always willing to do anything for anyone. He was a cheerful man, giving light and comfort to all who knew him.
Surviving is his wife, Lisa (Eggleston) Gustafson, whom he married Oct. 26,1991; two sons Zach (Chelsea) Gustafson of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Dawson “Harik” Gustafson of Jamestown, his mother Mary (French) Gustafson of Gerry, and brother Jon (Cheryl) Gustafson of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, John Gustafson.
The funeral will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, from 4 to 7 pm and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery.
