Roy Carr

Roy Carr, of Cedarville Ohio, entered heaven, his eternal home, and into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 6, 2025.

Born in Jamestown, New York, May 5, 1938, the 2nd of four children born to Hugh and June Carr, he graduated from Cassadaga Valley HS in Sinclairville, NY, in 1955, and entered the Active US Army, then the Reserves. He journeyed to Ohio in the late 1950’s for his collegiate education graduating from Cedarville College with teaching credentials. While there he met and married Alberta Graham who had come to the small Christian College from California. They raised five sons in Cedarville, served their God at the local Grace Baptist Church, and loved their local school and community. He and Alberta called Cedarville their home for all of their 68 years of marriage.

He taught middle school at Cedar-Cliff schools for 35 years, and accepted the joys and challenges of teaching and coaching all five sons and approximately two thousand other Cedarville sons and daughters. Mr. Carr was loved by his students. He earned his Master’s of Education mid-career from Wright State University. For over 25 years, he stepped into the role of Washington DC tour guide teaching love for America to his 8th graders. Additionally, he served most of his adult life as a church deacon, championing benevolence–discreetly caring for the financial and material needs of people in his Cedarville village. He served in the early developmental years of the community Donald F. Kyle Medical Center. He loved to sing using his deep bass voice in worship to His Lord and in fellowship with gospel quartet friends and the Xenia Hospitality Chorus. He operated the scoreboard clock at Cedarville HS basketball games and kept statistics for Indian football games for over 30 years.

His life was filled with joy in his Lord, his family, his students and his community.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta, and his children: Scott and Connie Carr, David and Stephanie Carr; Dan and Pam Carr; Tom and Paula Carr; Steve and Patricia Carr, and their families, which include 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Carol and David Nims. He is preceded in death by sisters, Beverly Haskell and Janet Scally.

A Celebration of Mr. Roy Carr’s Life will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 109 N. Main St., Cedarville, Ohio, on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025. The family will receive visitors in Grace’s Moffat Hall from 2-4 pm followed by a Service in the Sanctuary at 4:30 pm.
