Rodney A. Vik

An area resident of Jamestown/Gerry, NY, for most of his life, he was born in Jamestown, NY on July 15, 1940, the son of the late Howard and Josephine Conti Vik.

Before his retirement, he was employed by the former Jamestown Dental Lab. Rodney began his work life at 16 as an assistant produce manager at the Super Duper Market. He spent 25 years working at Dahlstroms with his two brothers and father. He has always been a hard worker both in the workforce and at home.

Rodney will be remembered as a loving and caring father and grandfather who loved the Lord deeply. He regularly gave praise to God for the beauty of the outdoors. He loved spending time fishing and cultivating amazing gardens.

Surviving is his wife, Doris M. Vik of Edinboro, PA, whom he married at the Calvary Church of God on Jan. 5, 1963. Also surviving are a son, Michael (Kelly) Vik of Edinboro, PA; a daughter, Tammy Vik of Erie, PA; a brother, Donald (Susan) Vik of Corry, PA; a sister-in-law, Betsy Vik of Summerville, SC; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ivan Vik; and his eldest daughter, Debra Vik.

The funeral will be held at Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. Third St., Jamestown, NY at 11 am on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. Visitation will take place for one hour prior to the service from 10-11 am Friday at Lind’s. Burial will follow in Lake View Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to join for a reception to celebrate Rodney’s life at Family Church Jamestown’s youth building at 3130 Garfield Rd., Jamestown, NY following the service and burial.

Memorials may be made to Family Church Erie in honor of Rodney Vik.
