Robert R. McAdoo Jr.

Robert R. McAdoo Jr.
Robert R. McAdoo Jr., 60, of Jamestown passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 7, at his home.
An area resident for the majority of his life, he was born on February 14, 1965, in Homer City, Pa., the son of Wilma McAdoo of Jamestown and the late Robert R. McAdoo Sr. of Indiana, Pa.
Robert was a 1984 graduate of United High School, in Armagh, Pa., where he lettered in track. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Ky. He served in the Army from September 1984-October 1993. He was based in places all around the globe like Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Japan and South Korea before settling into Fort Campbell, Ky. Robert retired from the Army with a rank of Spec4(Specialist 4th Class). He was a decorated combat war veteran having served in Operation Desert Shield in 1990. He was a proud Army vet and regularly made it a point to attend the Jamestown Memorial Day Parade and Soldiers Circle Memorial Service to honor those who had fallen. After his retirement from the Army, he worked as a forklift operator for Bush Industries, until his passing.
He was the proud father of three beautiful children: a son, Robert A. (NeKeisha) McAdoo, of Jamestown and two daughters, Meghan Wilson and Rebecca McAdoo, both of Springfield Ill. He was also the grandfather of seven beautiful grandchildren: Liam and Elliott McAdoo of Jamestown, Krysta and Naomi McAdoo and Damon Bolinger of Springfield Ill., and Matthew Wilson and Jayden McAdoo, of Taylorville, Ill.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed attending local car shows, reading and binge watching the old M.A.S.H. television show along with old war movies. His weekends were spent watching college football, the Carolina Panthers and NASCAR. He loved music and had a very eclectic taste with his favorites ranging from Ozzy Osborne and Pat Benatar to Alabama and Billy Joel.
He loved his family, his country, Mountain Dew and his Penn State Nittany Lions.
He will fondly be remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was the strong silent type who was very protective of those he loved. A man of few words who would do anything to help anyone. He was one of the humblest and hardest-working men there ever was.
Besides his mother, children and grandchildren, he is survived by two sisters; Debra (Clifford) Allison of Blairsville, Pa. and Shelley (John) Whittaker of Jamestown and one brother, Calvin McAdoo also of Jamestown along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a stepfather, Sidney Mountain, a sister Brenda McAdoo, a niece Brandy Wilkie and two Uncles Harvey and William Palmer.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Lind Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow after 3 p.m. in Soldier’s Grove at Lakeview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Robert’s name to the Lind Funeral Home to help defray the cost of his final expenses. Other donations may be made in Robert’s name to a local veteran’s charity of one’s choice.
