1940-2025

Paula M. Vogt, 85, passed into spirit on Sept. 27 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo after a brief illness.

She was born on Aug. 31, 1940, in Lancaster, NY to Hazel A. Vogt (Scheffler) and Gordon Vogt. She graduated from Bemus Point High School in 1958. She attended college in Buffalo and then worked as a laboratory technician. In her later years, she worked at Walmart as the store operator until her retirement. She also continued her education independently through her life-long love of reading and the local library system.

She was also an accomplished musician on clarinet, flute, and piano. She participated in the SUNY New Horizons band for many years as a flute player. Her love of music and the fine arts also led to her volunteering as an usher at the Fredonia Opera House.

Paula was very active in the wider community in many ways, volunteering her time with Lily Dale Assembly during their summer activities. She was a member of the Lily Dale Spiritualist Church and the Way Memorial Temple in Wheeling, WV. She also was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebekahs. She was an avid pinochle player with her friends at the Dunkirk Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling with various senior groups as well as family trips to destinations all over the country and the world.

She is predeceased in death by her parents, a sister Karen Gasber (Vogt), and her brother Douglas Vogt. She is survived by her niece Kimberly Gasber (William G. Wells) and her grand-nephews, William D. Wells and Julian Wells.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System, (cclsny.org), 106 W. 5th St., Jamestown, NY 14701. A celebration of life service will be held at the Lily Dale Lyceum on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at 11 am. Online condolences may be made at larsontimkofuneralhome.com.
