Mary Jane Smith, 95, of Hamlin, NY, formerly of Jamestown, NY, passed away at Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY on Thursday, October 16, 2025. She was born in White Deer, PA on July 25, 1930, to the late George Edward and Mary Ann Chappell Smith.
Mary Jane graduated from high school and retired from Truck-Lite in Falconer.
She created quite a legacy that will live on through generations, including her children, Barry Smith, Jack Smith, Donald (Debbie) Smith, Margaret (the late David) Steen, Kate (Buddy) Howard, and Georgette (Greg) McChesney; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as a growing number of great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Jack “Smitty” Smith, whom she married December 13, 1946, and who passed away January 4, 2011; as well as two sons, Michael K. Smith and Anthony S. “Tony” Smith.
The funeral service for Mary Jane will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service from 10am-12pm Friday at Lind’s. Burial will be in Wild Rose Cemetery in the Town of North Harmony.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice or to the VA.
