Joan L. Dickinson

Joan L. Dickinson, 91, of Falconer passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025 surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Dickinson, whom she married April 19, 1968. He was the love of her life with whom she shared 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2022. Together they formed a powerful and memorable love story that served as a constant source of strength and inspiration to their family and all who knew them.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert Sorensen, and two sisters, Kay Sniezek and Sandra Zampogna.

Prior to retiring in 1997, Joan had been employed for 30 years at Jamestown Community College as the Assistant Registrar. She was a true friend to all the college students and with all those she had the pleasure of working with.

She enjoyed reading, having daily devotional time with coffee, watching the Buffalo Bills games, cooking and was well known for her apple pie. She will always be remembered for her strong faith in God, love for her family and kindness to everyone who knew her. She was the cornerstone of her family and a source of endless love and strength.

She is survived by her loving sister, Linda Wood of Warren, PA; two daughters: Susan Jerman of Allison Park, PA and Sharon Sudano (Ron) son-in-law of Ellwood City, PA. Three stepchildren: Susan Sorensen of Warren, PA, Rev. Scott Dickinson of Ottawa, KA, Sandra Long of Virginia. Grandchildren: Holly Penefsky, PA, Jeremy Bennett, TX, Matthew Bennett, NC, Timothy Stimmell, VA, Michael Stimmell, PA, Jennifer Rogers, NC, James Sorensen, PA, Shawn & Christina, KA. Along with 12 great grandchildren.

She would have wanted to extend her deep gratitude to her daughter Susan, granddaughter Holly and great granddaughters Oliva, Madilyn and Adriana who welcomed her into their home during the last year of her life. They lovingly cared for her bringing her much love in her last days while still with us.

Joan will be deeply missed and live forever in our hearts.

A private graveside service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery in Falconer. Visitation will not be observed.
