James R. Crofoot

James R. Crofoot, 76, of 134 King St., passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 22025 at UPMC Hamot. He was the husband of Nancy Eden Crofoot whom he married Aug. 28, 1971.

Jim was born April 26, 1949 in Jamestown, a son of the late Richard and Glenndene Ahlgren Crofoot. Growing up in Westfield, he graduated from Westfield Central School followed by Alfred Tech.

Following college, he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut until his return to the area. Jim then worked for 43 years at Weber Knapp, leaving there as an inspector. He retired after 15 years with Cummins Engine.

A ham radio operator as a teen, Jim belonged to the ham radio club, Chautauqua Amateur Radio Service, and in earlier years, the Moose Club. He enjoyed Western movies, reading, word search puzzles, and in former years bowling. He was a member of Zion Covenant Church.

In addition to his wife Nancy, surviving is their son, Michael (Jennifer Thomas) Crofoot. Jennifer, who thought of Jim as a dad, was a friend and caregiver and together Michael and Jen gave him wonderful care.

Also surviving are two grandsons, Jordan (Eylessia) and Taylor, both of Jamestown, with a great grandchild expected; a brother, Stephen (Denise) Crofoot of Fredonia; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Crofoot.

The funeral will be at 1 pm on Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Laura Csellak will officiate. Friends will be received from 11 am until 1 pm for two hours prior to the service Thursday.
