Gerald “Gary” N. Paddock

Gerald “Gary” N. Paddock passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, surrounded by love.

Born on Feb. 24, 1954, to Paul and Jacqueline Paddock, Gary grew up in Mayville, N.Y., and graduated from Mayville High School in 1972.

Gary was a man who loved his family, life, and the natural world around him. A talented carpenter by trade, he built not only with his hands but also with his heart — always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was known for his generous spirit, quiet strength, and the deep care he held for those around him.

Gary found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved traveling, spending time in nature, and going on hikes. One of his favorite daily rituals was visiting Ryder’s Cup for his morning coffee and conversations — a routine that brought him connection, laughter, and community. Gary also found deep comfort and curiosity in the stars, drawing inspiration and wisdom from astrology and the mysteries of the universe.

Gary is survived by his eight children: Gwen (De Carlos) Mitchell of Ohio; Miranda Paddock of California; Reuben (Amanda) Paddock of Mayville; Melissa Paddock of West Ellicott; Ivana Nuccio of Stockton; Morgan Paddock of Falconer; S. Mackenzie Paddock of Lakewood; and Hannah (Logan) Alexander of Lakewood. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Samicka Mathews, Mayson Mathews, Elijah Nuccio, Ashton Mathews, Kendren Neal, Nazariah Neal, Sophia Nuccio, Nolianna Paddock, and Mayah Reyes.

He is also survived by his sister, Robin (Bob) Delcamp of Westfield.

Gary touched the lives of many others who loved and cared for him deeply, including but not limited to Jennifer (James) Aiken and their two children; Steven (Kelly) Cofer and their two children; David (Heather) Cofer and their two children; and Vance Alvarez. His kindness and generosity created a chosen family as strong and meaningful as any bond by blood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jacqueline Paddock, and his brother, Paul Jr. (“Skip”) Paddock.

Gary’s legacy will live on in the lives he built, the love he shared, and the countless ways he made the world around him a better place.

A celebration of life will be held on Nov. 6, from 4-8 p.m. at the Lakewood American Legion Post 1286, 174 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
