David Paul Holmstrom

With his loving family by his side, David Paul Holmstrom, 85, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Oct. 26 85.

Born on June 3, 1940, in Erie, Pennsylvania, David was the son of the late Walter and Ruth (Schauble) Holmstrom. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1958 and proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy Air Group during the Vietnam Era.

After his service, David earned his degree from Penn State Behrend and began a long, successful career in quality engineering. He worked as an inspector at R.M. Kerner Co., a Quality Engineer at Lord Corporation, and later as Quality Manager and National Sales Manager at Corry Manufacturing. David went on to serve as Vice President of Quality Engineering at Dawson Metal in Jamestown, New York, where his leadership, precision, and high Standards left a lasting mark.

Even in retirement, David continued doing what he loved – working as an Independent Contractor for General Dynamics Electric Boat Division, supporting the production of nuclear submarines, and later as a Quality Engineer at Rand Precision Machining, where he retired at

David was a proud member of the Corry Lodge 365 Free Masons, a 32∂ Scottish Rite Mason of the Valley of Erie, and a member of the Vikings, Celoron Moose, and the Celoron American Legion Post 777.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Meredith (Owen) Holmstrom, his sisters, Janet MacGurn, Donna Thompson and Nancy Ozimek, and his beloved grandson Travis Hilton.

David is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Becky (Scowden) Holmstrom. Together they shared a love for traveling, family gatherings, and painting – even creating their own Christmas cards each year to share with friends and loved ones.

He is also survived by his children, Kristin (Rick) Lane of Waynesboro, Virginia; Victoria (Troy) Whalen of Waynesville, North Carolina; Shelly Holmstrom of Ashville, New York; and Mark (Pam) Holmstrom of Corry, Pennsylvania; stepdaughters, Michelle (Shongo) Hilton of Jamestown, New York, and Colleen (Shongo) Schafer of Port Charlotte, Florida.

David was the proud grandfather of Jillian Hilton, Michael (Mary) Klakamp, David (Arianna) Holmstrom, Alex (Dylan) Mrozek, James Hilton, Elizabeth Harrison, and Ashley Lane and many great grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings Shirley Wagner of Erie, Pennsylvania and Kenneth Holmstrom of Erie.

He will be remembered for his dedication to family, his humor, his craftsmanship, and the pride he took in every task. He was a man of quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering integrity.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 3-6 pm on Friday, Oct. 31, and a memorial service celebrating David’s life at 11 am on Saturday, Nov. 1st, at The Rock Church.
