Daniel P. Moran
Daniel P. Moran
Daniel P. “Sparky” Moran, 65, of Lakewood, passed away suddenly in his home on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025.
Born in Jamestown on Aug. 8, 1960, to the late H. Chuck and Jean Law Moran, Dan was known by
everyone as loyal, dependable, and the first person you’d call when something needed fixing or when you just needed a hand.
A proud graduate of Alfred University, where he earned his degree in ceramic engineering, Dan built a lifelong career that reflected his meticulous mind and love of craftsmanship. At IWF, he managed steel bids and projects with pride, always eager to show off photos of his work. His engineer’s heart carried into his personal life too, tackling projects big and small with quiet satisfaction.
When he wasn’t working, you could find Dan on the golf course, usually first on the tee box at Moonbrook Country Club with the Men’s League and his weekend groups. Golf wasn’t just a hobby for him; it was a community, a passion, and a joyful constant where he built deep friendships that meant the world to him.
Whether helping a neighbor, supporting a friend, or building something for his family, Dan gave endlessly of himself without ever asking for anything in return. His humor, his kindness, and his steady, selfless love will be missed beyond measure.
Dan was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, a loyal friend and brother, a devoted husband of 43 years, and an unfailingly dependable father.
Dan leaves behind his wife, Susan Bockrath Moran, whom he married Aug. 21, 1982; his children, Niklas Moran of Jamestown and Danielle (Christian) Gaddis of Hamburg, NY; his granddaughter, Madilyn Moran; his siblings, Gregory (Sharon) Moran, Martha (the late Vincent) Consiglio, Patricia (Ed) Medina, and Heather (Anthony) Holman; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service for Dan will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends for a time of visitation starting at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moonbrook Junior Golf Program at 2879 N Main St. Ext, Jamestown NY 14701 or to the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department at 37 JW Packard Blvd Lakewood, NY 14750.
