Walter E. Carlson

Walter E. Carlson, 83, of Jamestown, passed away on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg, NY. He was born in Jamestown on May 16, 1942, to the late Clifford and Harriet LaBaron Carlson.

A 1961 graduate of Falconer High School, Walter earned his associate’s degree from Jamestown Community College. Proudly, he served in the Vietnam War with the United States Army. His service cascaded into lifelong memberships with the Vietnam Veterans of America as well as with the local VFW.

Early in his career, Walter owned his own real estate business; further, he retired as an insurance salesman with Grey’s Insurance.

Walter remained active in the community throughout his years. The Vikings and Lakewood Rod & Gun Club both knew him as a longtime member. Walter was also dynamic with his church, the former Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as president of the council.

An avid golfer, Walter also enjoyed gardening and cheering for both the Buffalo Bills and the Chicago Cubs. His favorite vacation spot was traveling to Maine with his wife, Sharon.

Walter will be deeply missed by his wife, Sharon Jader Carlson, whom he married Aug. 1, 1970; his sons, Philip (Lynsey) Carlson of New Providence, NJ and Adam (Seana) Carlson of Tonawanda, NY; his grandchildren, Henrik Carlson, Whitney Carlson, and Mackenzie Carlson; many nieces and nephews; his brother-in-law, Gary Perkins; as well as his sister-in-law, Constance Krasinski.

Besides his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy (Roger) Parsons and Jeanette Perkins; nephew, Roger Parsons Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Ronald Krasinski.

The funeral for Walter will be at 11:00 am Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, at Tree of Life Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at Tree of Life Lutheran Church, 825 Forest Ave., Jamestown, NY. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
