Robert A. (Bob) Beckstrom, 99, went to his Heavenly Father Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025. He was born in Jamestown, NY to August W. Beckstrom and Anne Lind Beckstrom on July 27, 1926. He served as a Marine during WWII from 1944-1946 doing duty aboard the USS Providence – the Flag Ship of the Mediterranean fleet. He married E. Virginia Schogren on Feb. 14, 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA. Together they had three sons Daniel A (Marilyn) of Pittsburgh, PA, Thomas R (Barbara) of Vero Beach, FL and John D (Corrine) of Vero Beach, FL. He has seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Bob moved his young family to Jamestown in 1951 and founded a trucking company (Penn Empire Transport.) He was president and CEO until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of First Covenant Church in Jamestown, and served many years on the Trustee Board and Deacon Board. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Frewsburg Covenant Home until it closed.
When Bob retired, he joined his wife in their antique business, The Wooden Wheel in Ashville. Bob also enjoyed collecting and restoring vintage automobiles.
A private family service was held at Tanglewood Manor on Monday, Sept. 15. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the First Covenant Church, Jamestown or to Mission Meadows Bible Camp, Dewittville.
