Ralph B. Penhollow, 85, of Sinclairville, NY, passed away Saturday (Sept. 27, 2025) in his home, surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family.
A lifelong area resident, Ralph was born Sept. 18, 1940 in Charlotte Center, son of the late Leland F. and Elsie Schlining Penhollow.
Ralph graduated from Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Early in life, Ralph was employed by Hope’s Windows in Falconer. He later became the owner and operator of Penhollow Disposal Service, providing dedicated service to the surrounding community. Those who knew Ralph admired his strong work ethic, dependability, and selflessness. A man of faith, Ralph was a communicant of St. Mary of Lourdes Parish in Mayville, where he was a cherished parishioner.
Ralph was known for his kind and humble heart. Family, friends, and community members can attest to this. He expressed unwavering generosity towards those he met. He was a man of many interests, including deer hunting, fishing or racing anything with a motor. Ralph took great pride knowing all of his passions and corresponding memories would be passed on for many generations. Ralph was a true family man who will be remembered for his unfailing love, devotion and support, which will remain the cornerstone of his life.
Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Virginia C. “Ginny” Penhollow, whom he married Nov. 21, 1964 in Sinclairville. Additionally, he is survived by five children: Elizabeth (Brian) Abram of Sinclairville, Stephen (Priscilla) Penhollow of Fredonia, Anne Little (Late Husband Troy) of Sinclairville, Johnathan (Angie) Penhollow of Sinclairville and Mary (Jon) Moore of Sinclairville, 23 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a sister Cora Mitchell of Colorado.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four grandchildren: Patrick, Gabriel, Claire and Zechariah Abram, his son-in-law, Troy Little and three sisters: Kay Collingwood, Ruth Heath and Betty Stage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday in St. Mary of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 25 E. Chautauqua St., Mayville, NY. Rev. David Tourville will be celebrant. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sinclairville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Oishei Children’s Hospital.
