Norman A. Lopus

Norman A. Lopus, 80, formerly of Spencer Rd., Kiantone, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025 at Heritage Park & Skilled Nursing Facility.

He was born on Oct. 30, 1944 at home in Ashville, a son of the late Willis and Frances Slayton Lopus.

He attended Panama Central School.

Norman was a member of Kiantone Congregational Church for many years.

Norman was employed as a custodian at Panama Central School for 29 years, retiring in May of 1996. Norman was a hard-working farmer his entire life. His younger years were spent on the Lopus family farm. Then later alongside his wife on the Brown family farm, which had been in the family for 200 years.

Norman will be remembered for being a jokester and always having a peppermint candy to hand out.

He is survived by his wife Charlene B. Brown Lopus; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, including Constance L. Renzi, Phillip R. Wilson, and Jennifer Schrader, all of Frewsburg; a daughter Tree Willow Windsong (Tim) of AZ; a son Charles Wallace of Jamestown; a brother Gary A. Lopus of Sherman; and a sister Nancy J. Smith of Jamestown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert W. Lopus, a sister Carol M. Ellis, and his beloved dog “Blue”.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025 in Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. Rev. Mel McGinnis will officiate. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday in the funeral home.
