Nancy E. Bottomley
Nancy E. Bottomley
Nancy E. Bottomley, 89, of Jamestown, formerly of the family’s homestead on Weaver Rd, Maple Springs, passed away peacefully at Star Hospice House on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, following a leukemia diagnosis in July. She was born in the family home in Ellery Center on Sept. 7, 1936, to the late Arthur and Florence Ingerson Murdock.
A lifelong caregiver, Nancy graduated high school and made her life’s work her compassion for humankind. She lovingly married her husband, Dale, on May 26, 1956, and, together, they raised five children. As a mother and a sister, Nancy adored her family. So, too, her kindhearted disposition lent itself to caring for the elderly, both publicly and privately, for many years. She was an excellent cook, chronically making enough for the entire neighborhood. There were always leftovers for everyone, and Nancy’s claim was that, “if you leave hungry, it’s your own fault!”
In earlier years, Nancy made many fond memories bowling. With her sisters, they competed on the same team in many leagues, traveling all over to claim victories through endless strikes. Nancy’s endless stories and antics won’t soon be forgotten by her family and friends alike.
The Maples Springs Fire Department Auxiliary knew Nancy as an active member alongside her husband’s dedication to the organization.
Nancy’s soul will be forever cherished by her children, Randy (Debbie) Bottomley of Texas, Rodney (Diane) Bottomley of Bemus Point, Douglas Bottomley of Maple Springs, Dennis Bottomley of Jamestown, and Cindy (Leroy) Mower of Jamestown; her grandchildren, Randi Michelle, Thomas and Daniel Bottomley, and Amy, Bryan, Dale, Emily, Stephanie, and Andrew Bottomley; many great grandchildren; her sisters, Linda Feeny, Joanne Noon; her sister-in-law, Sara Kirchhoff; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Dale T. Bottomley, who passed away Aug. 27, 2024; her sisters, Barbara (Harold) Eckwahl and Hazel (Delbert) Carlson; her brother, Donald (Barbara) Murdock; as well as her brother-in-law, Rick Feeny.
No visitation of services will be observed. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750. The family extends deep gratitude to the special souls at the STAR Hospice House for their tender care for Nancy in her final weeks.
