Leo Vernon Cook, 85, of Rochester, NY, formerly of Panama, NY, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025. Leo was born in Panama, NY on Dec. 7, 1939. He was the only child of Frances Skowenski Cook and Vernon Howard Cook. Leo graduated from Panama Central School in 1958. He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. He married Priscilla May Robertson on May 28, 1963 in Chevy Chase, Maryland. In 1964, the couple moved from Washington D.C to Panama, NY, where they remained until 2007, when he and Priscilla moved to Victor, NY. Leo worked for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation until retirement. He also served as Village Constable for Panama for many years and was a life-long member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Leo was also a volunteer fireman for Panama, and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was also a member of the Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited, and National Rifle Association. He was honored with the Conservationist of the Year Award in 1993. Leo was an active member of the Chautauqua County Fair Board until moving to Victor, NY. Leo is survived by his only child, Heather Jean Cook-Smith of Fairport, NY. He is predeceased by his wife, Priscilla. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Panama, NY at the convenience of the family.
