Jewel E. Simon, 77, of Warren, PA, died on Saturday Sept. 27, 2025, in AHN St. Vincents Hospital, Erie PA, after a brief illness.
She was born on July 12, 1948, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Winfield H. and Elizabeth J. Sampson Sherman. Jewel was a graduate of Frewsburg Central High School, Class of 1966. During her time in high school, Jewel was a member of the Majorette’s. Jewel worked for the Department of Human Services in Warren, Brigiotta’s in Jamestown and retired from the Warren Walmart. She also was a vendor with the Warren Farmers Market where she was known for “Jewel’s Luscious Lopes”.
Jewel enjoyed many things in life such as gardening, canning, cooking, baking, sewing, spending time with her grandchildren, and playing the piano. She also had a special place for holidays and the family all being together. Jewel was known for her big heart, always willing to help and lend a hand, and she will be missed by many.
On Feb. 25, 1967, she married Barry N. “Nig” Simon, and they spent 56 loving years together before he passed on Feb. 2, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jewel is survived by her three loving children, Barry N. Simon Jr. of Warren, PA, Carrie McMeans and husband Robert of Jamestown, NY, and Lizabeth Anderson of Ashville, NY; four grandchildren, Katie Wirtz, Morgan Genberg, Madison Anderson, and Zachary Anderson; one great grandchild, Sidney Wirtz; four siblings; Jerry and Lien Sherman of Fayetteville, NC, David and Lila Sherman of Jamestown, NY, Gay Hicks and Bill Kelly of Westerville, OH, and Gloria and Doug Neal of Sherman, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Jewel was preceded in death by her brothers, Jeffrey and Donald Sherman.
Family will receive friends on Saturday Oct. 4, 2025, from 1 to 2 pm at the Emanuel United Church of Christ, 1710 Pennsylvania Ave. E, Warren, PA. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 pm in the church with the Rev. Melissa McClean, pastor, officiating.
