James R. Perry

James R. Perry, 89, of Jamestown passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2025 in UPMC Chautauqua.

He was born Jan. 28, 1936 in Nanticoke, PA, the son of the late Carl and Irmal Tonkin Perry.

Jim attended Jamestown High School and prior to retirement was employed by Hopes Windows for 43 ¢ years.

He was a member and trustee of the former Buffalo St. United Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed spending time with family, and was an avid handyman tinkering with home projects and woodworking. He also enjoyed taking care of his lawn on Bassett St. which he kept in pristine condition.

Surviving are two daughters: Melania L. Brooks of Spotsylvania, VA, Dennett L. Carpenter of Jamestown; three grandchildren: Michael K. (Jennifer) Brooks, Marie Carpenter Johnston (Steve), Melissa Colburn (Jesse); five great grandchildren: Lillian Brooks, Tessa Brooks, Zander Colburn, Samuel Johnston, Nicholas Johnston; two step great grandchildren: Olivia Kreamer and Jacob Booth; a sister Carole Johnson of Jamestown, a sister-in-law Harriet Perry of Wisconsin; several nieces, nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette L. Bull Perry whom he married Jan. 21, 1956 in Jamestown, who died Feb. 16, 2024; a grandson Conner Brooks; a brother William C. Perry and brother-in-law John Johnson.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25th in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 12 to 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
