H. John Kent

He was born on April 18, 1952 in Olean, NY the son of the late Dean and Marjorie (Guyer) Kent Sr.

On Oct. 14, 1972 he married the former Karen Moen who survives.

Mr. Kent started out as a self-employed landscaper and also plowed snow.He later started a horse riding stable on his farm.Following this he started the Ellicottville Rodeo which has run for 36 years and also Nightmare Hayrides on Sommerville St.which he has run for 34 years.He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his trips to Florida and playing cards.

Besides his loving wife of over 52 years he is survived by a son John H. (Courtney Schackel) Kent of Franklin, PA and a daughter Tammie (Jeremy) McCulligh of Ellicottville, NY and two grandchildren Jayden Doutt and Kole Kent.Also surviving is a brother Dean R.(Theresa) Kent Jr. of Little Valley, NY and a sister Debra (late Joseph) Crowley of Allegany, NY and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister Cindy (late Paul) Clancy.

Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc. 411 Rock City St. in Little Valley, NY on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025 at 11 am from the funeral home.

Burial will be in Green Cemetery in Great Valley, NY.
