Edmond F. Rumiano

Edmond F. Rumiano
Edmond F. Rumiano, 88, of Jamestown, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, in Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
He was born November 19, 1936, in Jamestown, the son of the late Adolph and Mary Rumiano.
Raised in Falconer, following graduation from Falconer Central School, he went on to receive an undergraduate degree in engineering at Purdue University and a master’s degree in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
He then worked at Georgia Tech for 30 years in the departments of computer science and physics, where he helped many students achieve their academic goals.
Ed primarily enjoyed spending time with his wife Cynthia, as they were frequently seen together eating out at Ryan’s Phil and Cindy’s restaurant or Bob Evans, attending church services, or visiting friends and relatives in Jamestown and the surrounding areas. An avid golfer and dog lover, he liked doing yard work to make the house look nice for his wife. Seemingly at odds with his interest and background in the sciences, he was always sure to support and encourage his son’s love of literature by attending countless readings and lectures in Atlanta with Jeff. A wonderful husband, father, and friend, Ed will be missed, and his absence will be felt by all who encountered him.
Surviving is his wife Cynthia Handzel Rumiano, whom he married June 21, 1969 at Our Lady of Loreto Church; a son, Jeffrey (Elena) Rumiano of Atlanta, GA, and a sister, Helen Smigowski of Tampa, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Thursday in Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 9-10 am Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center or the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
