Salvatore Liuzzo, Sr.
Salvatore Liuzzo, Sr., 92, of Jamestown, NY, passed away Saturday Aug. 2, 2025 in UPMC Chautauqua surrounded by his family.
He was born Apr. 1, 1933 in Tortorici, Sicily, a son of the late Rosario and Rosaria Calabria Liuzzo and came to this country in 1954.
He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and member of the Marco Polo Club and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.
Prior to his retirement he was employed for 35 years by MRC/SKF as an inspector.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he loved traveling to Italy and Sicily several times with his wife and children and spending summers there visiting family and friends. In addition, he enjoyed investing in the stock market which he did until his passing.
Surviving is his daughter, Mary (Bill Massa) Liuzzo Watson of Jamestown; his son, Salvatore “Sam” (Stephanie) Liuzzo, Jr, of Ashville; six grandchildren, Rick (Alison) Hammond, Christopher (Courtney) Hammond, Chelsea (Marcus Hert) Watson, Kyle (Kelly Dalton) Liuzzo, Mitchell Liuzzo all of Jamestown, and Michael (Olivia) Watson of Soddy-Daisy, TN, seven great grandchildren, Riley Anderson, Rocco, Sylvia, Adrian, and Emory Hammond, Sophie Hert, and Millie Watson; his sister Lena Galbato of Milan, Italy and his sister in law, Maria Parasiliti of Torino, Italy.
Besides her parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Edda Galbato Liuzzo, whom he married February 1, 1958, and who died Feb. 21, 2023; his daughter, Sally L. Hammond who died Nov. 9, 2007; three brothers Joseph, Sebastian, and Vincent Liuzzo and two sisters Carmello Liuzzo and Franca Galbato.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am Thursday in St. James Catholic Church. Entombment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-6 pm Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
