Richard J. Romaniuk

Richard J. “Rick” Romaniuk, 67, of Lakewood, passed away following years of illness on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025. He was born in Jamestown on May 24, 1958, to the late Jack N. and Therese Kunzler Romaniuk.

Rick spent his working years as a painter and stainer, enjoying the profession with Mason Carvings, Jamestown Metals, and then Jamestown Laminating.

Above all, Rick’s life was guided by music. Known as “Animal” amongst the local band scene, he loved his drumming days, especially with the former Ida Know? band and then, with Rockin Rick and the Home Wreckers. Rhythms and dancing stirred his soul, enjoying the surround sound in his home that covered the whole footprint to the point of proud shaking.

Rick continued to hold membership with the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association; notably, he spent many years hunting and fishing.

The love from Rick’s harmonious soul will be deeply missed by his wife, Linda; his daughters, Jordyn R. (Erik) Johnson and Brandy; and his nieces and nephews, Jason (Amanda) Alm, Ashley (Joe) Wehinger, and Sarah, along with their families.

Besides his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his son, Justin Lee Romaniuk, who passed away Jan. 23, 2017; and his brother, John Romaniuk.

The family will receive friends from 1-4 pm Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Jamestown, NY. Rev. Donald Watkins will be Celebrant. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
