Patrick Edward “Gargie” Dailey, a proud veteran and spirited soul, passed away on Apr. 22, 2025, in Lady Lake, Florida. Born on Apr. 16, 1945, in Buffalo, New York, to Russell and Gertrude Hyland Dailey, Patrick lived a vibrant and full life marked by service, friendship, and creativity.
Patrick pursued his education at SUNY Buffalo before embarking on a successful career as Manager of the Claims Department at Empire Insurance Company. His professional life was defined by dedication and leadership until his well-earned retirement.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Patrick served his country with honor while stationed in Germany. His time in the military remained a source of pride throughout his life, as a member of the American Legion Post 1286, in Lakewood, NY, where Patrick grew up.Patrick’s zest for life extended far beyond his career and military service. He had a deep love for music and the arts and was often found playing his banjo or painting alongside friends during Monday night paint classes. He delighted in karaoke nights and concerts in the park, where he could share laughter and song with those around him.
A fan of country western dancing and golf, Patrick embraced every opportunity to enjoy life’s pleasures.Genealogy was another passion that connected Patrick to both past and present. He cherished time spent visiting with friends on his beloved “piazza,” where stories were shared and memories made.
Patrick is lovingly remembered by his sister, Dr. Sharon Dailey; his cherished friend, Bonnie Butler; cousins Patrick, Al, and Russell Dailey; and many dear friends who were touched by his warmth and humor.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, Aug. 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport, NY. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at Cammarata’s Restaurant, 6336 Robinson Rd., Lockport, NY. Pat’s remains will be buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Tonawanda, NY at a later date.
