Janice Marie Conti Gilbert, 85, of Clermont, FL, passed away peacefully on Aug. 4th, 2025 in Florida. Born in Jamestown, New York, on Mar. 12, 1940, to the late Sebastian Conti and Louise Conti (nee Southwick), Janice lived a full and remarkable life.
A proud graduate of Jamestown High School, Class of 1958, she built a life surrounded by family, friends, and love.
Throughout her life, Janice was known for her warmth, generosity, and infectious spirit. She was a devoted mother to her five children: Suzanne Smith (nee Johnson) of Castle Hayne, NC; Mark Johnson of Efland, NC; Andrew Johnson of Clermont, FL; David Johnson of Cape Coral, FL; and Thomas Johnson and Letitia Johnson (nee Bird) of Clermont, FL. She was also a loving sister to Lou Ann Campbell (nee Conti) of Winter Springs, FL, and Carl Conti of Stantonsburg, NC.
Janice’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jacqueline Canfield (nee Johnson) of Clermont, FL; Andrew Johnson Jr. of Sanford, FL; Garrett Johnson of Clermont, FL; Cooper Johnson of Clermont, FL; Alexander Smith of Raleigh, NC; and Nicholas Smith of Castle Hayne, NC. She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her niece, Sherri Campbell, and nephews, Tyron Conti, Landon Conti, and Kyler Conti.
Janice was previously married to Allan E. Johnson, originally from Jamestown, NY, and later to John (Doug) Gilbert of Oakland, FL. She had a deep love for her family and cherished the relationships that spanned across her life’s journey.
A memorial celebrating her life will be announced at a later date.
