Janice M. Shaffer

Janice M. Gage Shaffer, 91, of Lander, passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House.

Janice was born April 5, 1934, in Warren, the daughter of the late Richard A. and Mildred (Fischer) Gage. She was a 1952 graduate of Warren High School. On June 18, 1955, Janice and Ralph were wed, and celebrated nearly 70 years of marriage together. Before getting married, Janice worked for Pennsylvania Gas Company and Pennsylvania Bank & Trust. She worked as a Farmington Township Tax Collector for 29 years and also was a School Bus Driver for Decker Transportation for 42 1/2 years in the Eisenhower area.

Janice was a very active member of the Lander Community Church, she volunteered and taught Sunday School for many years as well as serving on numerous church boards. Janice was the secretary and treasurer for Foster Cemetery and volunteered at Lander Fire Department Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Double Dozen Birthday Club at Cable Hollow.

Janice and Ralph traveled to all 50 states and made numerous trips to California and the west coast to visit friends and relatives. The family spent every weekend at the camp at Rhine Run and entertained there for over 50 years.

Janice is survived by three children, Shelly Rodgers of Russell, Boyd Shaffer and wife Mary of Frewsburg, and Marjorie Adams and husband Jack of Russell; sister, Edna Fox of Loveland, CO; six grandchildren, Aaron (Jessica) Rodgers, Jeff Rodgers, Chad (Paige) Shaffer, Scott (Kim) Shaffer, Jaclyn (Ryan) Peal, and Brad (Katherine) Adams; nine great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death on May 7, 2025, by her husband, Ralph Shaffer Jr; brother, Martin Gage; sister, Valerie Craker; and son-in-law, Denny Rodgers.

Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA, on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, from 4 to 7 pm, and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held at the Lander Community Church, 5582 PA-957, Russell, PA, on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, at 11 am, with Reverend Denny Craker, nephew, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Lander Community Church, 5582 PA-957, Russell, PA or to Warren County Hospice, 1 Main Ave., Warren, PA.
