Edwin Cruz

Edwin (Ed) Cruz, 76, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Jamestown, NY, passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2025, at Arizona Heart Hospital, Phoenix, AZ.

Ed was born June 21, 1949, in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico to the late Reverend Julio and Candida (Candy) Cruz. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and toured in Germany. Ed was a longtime employee at Countertop Supply, Phoenix, AZ.

Ed married Janet Herrick on November 19, 1977, in Jamestown, NY. They enjoyed traveling over the years and had many adventures together. He was an avid Harley Davidson rider and visited many states on his motorcycle. He loved nothing more than camping with his children and grandchildren and attending their sports events.

Ed will be remembered for his gentle spirit, how easily he made friends, and how he loved to joke, just like his father. He always had time to talk and made those around him feel at ease. He was a skilled DIY man, always looking for ways to improve his home.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Janet, his daughters Danielle Cruz, Phoenix, AZ, Kerri Cruz (Alexander Koenig), Millbrook, AL, adopted son (beloved grandson), Willyam Cruz, Phoenix, AZ, and stepson Shane (Erin) Knapp, Jamestown, NY.
