David Alan Rinaldo

David Alan Rinaldo

David Alan Rinaldo of Rochester, New York, died Friday, August 8, 2025, at the age of 68, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Dave was born in 1957, in Jamestown, New York, the son of Walter and Jean Lawson Rinaldo. He attended Jamestown schools, graduating in 1975. Dave attended the University at Buffalo, and graduated from the College at Geneseo. He earned a Master’s degree from the University of Montana in Missoula.

Dave worked in the Planning Department for the City of Jamestown and retired as Deputy Director for the Monroe County Park System.

He was proud of his Swedish heritage, and optimistically postponed an upcoming trip to Scandinavia. He enjoyed traveling to locations in Europe and Costa Rica with friends and family. Dave was an avid skier and enjoyed winter on the slopes, including a ski (mis)adventure in the Sierra Nevadas in southern Spain. He wore his Buffalo Bills and Sabres hats everywhere, even while traveling abroad, which created conversations and new friendships. He was a member of the Rochester Ski Club, and was delighted to have made good friends with the other club members.

Dave loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Thomas Rinaldo, sons Jack (Hannah Stettner), and Samuel (Tara), and daughter Lenore (Jake Dixon) Rinaldo, sisters Carol (John) Sweeney, and Janet Foley. He had three beautiful granddaughters, Alaina, Sadie, and Brooke. He was predeceased by his parents and by his niece, Bernadette Foley.

Dave grew up in Jamestown, lived in Montana, and happily spent his last decades in Rochester. But his most treasured home was at the family cottage on Chautauqua Lake. He enjoyed spending time swimming, boating, and jet skiing with his family, and nieces and nephews: Anne, Clare, Veronica, Evan, Jacob, Bernadette and Olivia, along with his cousins, their children, and grandchildren.

Help us celebrate Dave’s life during services at the Anthony Funeral Chapel, 2305 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, NY, 14618, Friday, Aug. 15th from 2 – 5.
