Carolyn Joan Smith of Jamestown, NY, born Sept. 9, 1945, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 14th, 2025.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ronald Earl Smith; her three daughters: Tammy (husband Robert) Blair and grandchildren Felicia Gage and Lucas Blair, Tina (husband Jim) Sitterly and grandchildren Amanda Paddleford and Dustin Sitterley, and Tiffany (fiance Christopher Kellogg) Johnson and grandchildren Justin and Alyssa Johnson; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte Greenawalt and brother, Burt DeVlieger, Jr.; as well as lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved so dearly.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Esther DeVlieger and father, Burt DeVlieger; and twin brother Carl Stevens, brother Bob DeVlieger, and sister Pam DeVlieger.
For 35 years Carolyn worked at Jamesway and Kmart in Lakewood. She looked forward to going to the ocean and picking up seashells at Myrtle Beach every year. Carolyn loved her flowers and gardening and her hummingbirds and orioles. She enjoyed swimming with her husband daily in their swimming pool. Carolyn also adored her kitties and treated them like children. She loved cooking and baking for the holidays for her family, collecting jewelry and always dressed in fashion.
Carolyn always told everyone how much she loved them and prayed for them every night. She will be missed every day and “live on in our hearts” forever. God bless her on her next journey.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19th in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Rev. Joe Osborn. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
