It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William L. Sprigg, 83, of Debary, Florida, who passed away peacefully on Monday (June 23, 2025), at home surrounded by family just as he had expressly wished.
Formerly from Jamestown, New York, he was born in Baltimore, Maryland (Feb. 8, 1942), the son of Claude Livingston Sprigg and Carrie Raineir.
He attended Jamestown High School, graduating in 1961.In 1962, he enrolled in the US Army and served until 1968. He was employed by MRC/SKF for 34 years. He retired in 1997 and moved to Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda (married 60 years) and his two sons,William (Tina Sprigg, granddaughter Sera of Boynton Beach, Florida) and son, Michael (Denise Sprigg, grandson Prestyn and granddaughter Bryanna of Oviedo, Florida), and his sister, Sally (Bob Buffone of Jamestown, New York).
William loved to play golf and was an incredible musician. Most of his friends knew him as “Billy Lee & The Mark III”, where he sang lead vocals and played lead guitar in his band from 1965 until 1987.His proudest moments were spending time with his three grandchildren andcarrying the proud title as their “Nanu”. He will be deeply missed.
“A limb has fallen from the family tree, that says, grieve not for me.Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs, and the good life I lived while I was healthy and strong.”
The family is planning a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Sept. 27,2025, from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Lakewood Rod & Gun, in Lakewood,New York, and is open for all friends and family to attend.
