William B. “Bill” Ross

William B. “Bill” Ross, 83, of Jamestown, passed away on April 20, 2025, at the Lower Cape FearLifeCare Center, Wilmington, NC. He was born on Mar. 9, 1942, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Bennie and Jean Johnson Ross. A 1960 graduate of Jamestown High School, Bill served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years. Bill enjoyed NASCAR, a good joke, a cold, wet beer (and it didn’t even have to be cold) and time with family and friends.

Surviving is his son Bill Ross (Kelly Pickral) of Satellite Beach, FL, daughter Rhonda Ross of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren: Holly Ross (Seth Stainback), Jamie Ross (Leslie Ross), Ben Ross(Kayla Garren), Katherine Carlson (Jay Nunalee) and Jennifer Dean; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews to include Dave Berg (Melinda Berg) and Terri Ross (Cliff Beaumont)who were as dear to him as his own children.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Ross; sisters, Marlayne Thomas and Gloria Doolittle; and daughter, Sheila Ross. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, in the Lind Funeral Home.
