Robert Baldwin

Robert Baldwin

Bob Baldwin, 92, of Fredonia Place “checked out” on June 28, 2025 at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab in Dunkirk, NY. Born in 1932 in North East, PA, the son of Lynn and Clara Baldwin, he lived in Sherman, Busti, and the Sheridan-Dunkirk area. Bob formerly owned 30 Mile Auto Parts in Dunkirk. Following “retirement”, for the next 40 years, he dealt in used farm and construction equipment. Bob was still driving a bulldozer at 89 years of age. Growing up in Sherman, NY during the Depression and WWII, Bob learned the value of hard work and carried on wheeling and dealing until the end of his life.

In his younger years, Bob was a well-known pool shark. He loved to travel, visiting all 48 contiguous states and several countries in Europe. Bob was an expert hunter who thrived on the count down to opening day of deer season. He fed family and friends from his many hunting trips to northern Ontario, Quebec, Wyoming, Texas, Colorado and locally, as well as several deep-sea fishing excursions. A proud Air Force veteran, Bob was one of two Airmen selected to attend a birthday party for Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace while he was stationed at South Ruislip AFB in London.

Bob, Uncle Speed to his nieces and nephews, dearly loved his family, providing patience, guidance and a deep respect for learning. We will miss his wicked sense of humor, wisdom and extreme optimism. He is survived by his children, Faith (Bill) Donald of Mississauga, Ontario; and Nevan (Wendy) Baldwin of Hanover, NH; step children, Mark (Colby Brown) Corsi; John (Bunny) Corsi; Mary (Ed) Beatty; Kirk (Sharon) Corsi; Daniel (Sue) Corsi; Laurie (Charlie Hearne) Corsi; 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; one sister (Mary Penna); scores of nieces and nephews; as well as many good friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, his first wife Georgia, three brothers (Walt, Glenn and John Baldwin) and four sisters (Margaret Sottile, Bea Johnston, Violet Racine and Eleanor Blue).

A special thank you to everyone at Fredonia Place who made Bob feel special every day; Dunkirk VA; Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab staff on 2A and physio; and the Emergency Room and 3A staff at Brooks Hospital.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Bob donated his body to the University at Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program. Memorial contributions are appreciated for the Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department, 2800 Rte 20, Sheridan, NY 14135 or to Bob’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html.
