John W. Bisbee

John William Bisbee, 81, of South Ripley, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 27, 2025, with family by his side, following a lengthy illness. He was born Mar. 26, 1944, in Erie, PA, the son of the late Clifford W and Genevieve Lumberg Bisbee.

John had attended Sherman Central School and was a member of the class of 1962. He was a self-employed truck driver who had worked for many local businesses. He attended the North East Baptist Church for many years and more recently, had attended the First Baptist Church of Sherman.

John enjoyed going to equipment and estate auctions, gun shows, and tinkering on things around his property.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Bujnowski Bisbee, whom he married on July 26, 1969, eight children, Patty (Bill) George of Greenville, SC, John (Tracy) Bisbee of Fairview, PA, Paul (Mary) Bisbee of Erie, PA, Michael (Darlene) Bisbee of S Ripley, NY, William (Jennifer) Bisbee of Erie, PA, Becky (Roy) VanValkenburg of Sherman, NY, Lynn Bisbee of North East, PA, and Holly Bisbee of Fredricksburg, VA, fifteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one sister, Suzanne (John) Fox of Boston, MA, a nephew, John (Stephanie) Fox of Boston, MA, a close cousin, Laurel Adams of Ripley, NY, and his faithful dog, Daisey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Bisbee, a granddaughter, Ashley Bisbee, a grandson, Jacob VanValkenburg, and a son-in-law, Tommy Williams.

A memorial service for John will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday July 12, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Sherman (113 Church St, Sherman, NY 14781). The Rev. Paul Sears will officiate.

One of John’s greatest joys was making sure that kids got to go to a Christian summer camp and sponsored many children in the past.
