Howard R. Edgreen

Howard R. Edgreen, 85, of Jamestown, NY, formerly of Port Allegany, PA, died Tuesday (July 8, 2025) at UPMC-Chautauqua, Jamestown, NY.

He was born Sept. 19, 1939 in Port Allegany, the son of Bruce and Naomi Blanchard Edgreen. On June 25, 1960, in Port Allegany, PA, he married Georgia Ann Lilly, who died Aug. 30, 2021. They were married 61 years.

Mr. Edgreen was a 1958 graduate of Port Allegany High School. He went to work out of high school for the Pierce Glass Company in Port Allegany and retired from work when it was under the Ball Foster ownership after 40 years of employment.

Howard was known by several nicknames. “Hod”, “Howie”, “Big How”, and will always be remembered as a great bottle maker, trap shooter, husband, father and grandfather. He was a Buffalo Bills fan and a New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed photography and always had a camera in his hand taking pictures of nature and family. He and his wife, Georgia, traveled to Europe where he photographed seven different countries. One of his favorite things to do was to lift weights with his grandson, Ben, and challenge each other on who was the strongest. He taught his son, Mark, everything he knew about the glass industry. Whenever his daughter, Pam, had a mouse problem, she called Dad! He gave his son and daughter the nicknames of “Snuff” and “Toad”. He was a member of the Busti Trap Club.

He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Edgreen-Rosario of Jamestown NY, a son Mark (Shannon) Edgreen of Seal Beach, CA

Great grandchild, Landon, and step great grandchild, Caleb and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Howard was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce Edgreen, and a sister, Lorraine Simons.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11 from 1-4 PM at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 105 Main St., Port Allegany, where funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12 at 11 am from the funeral home, with the Rev. James A. Cannistraci, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Port Allegany.
