Gay Cordosi Davidson

Gay Cordosi Davidson

Gay E. (Johnson) Cordosi Davidson, 79, passed away peacefully, after a lengthy illness, in her home on Friday, July 18, 2025. She was born in Jamestown on May 26, 1946, to the late John and June Colleen Johnson.

A lifelong Jamestown resident, Gay graduated from Jamestown High School and spent her years caring for others. The neighborhood hairdresser who styled everyone with love, Gay journeyed into her professional years as a hair stylist with Super Cutters and, then, Salon 2000.

Still, Gay’s nurture for others remained prominent. She was quick to make a plate for anyone who stepped across her home’s threshold. Adoration only compounded when young children were added to her life’s picture. Gay will be fondly remembered to many as, “Nannie with the snacks,” being prepared with goodies for her tribe and their friends, alike.

Compassion for souls radiated into animals for Gay. She nursed many strays back to health, going out of her way to recuperate and save.

Gay and her husband, Stu, shared fandom for the Cleveland Browns, proudly cheering with the best of the “Browns Backers.”

Going out on weekends was an anticipatory point of joy for Gay. She was the first person to be on the dance floor; vividly, her jitterbug is a reminiscent highlight for many.

Gay’s memory will be upheld by her children, Kimberly (Rich) Pinciaro of Jamestown, Robert (Jennifer) Cordosi of Chesapeake, VA, Deanna (Sara Schrader) Cordosi, Chad (Amy Nelson) Cordosi, and Mark Cordosi, all of Jamestown; her step children, Todd (Karen) Davidson of Jamestown and Lucinda Sawyer of Seminole, FL; her grandchildren, Madeline (Joseph Harrington) Pinciaro and Olivia (Owen Maggio) Pinciaro, Nicky (Ben) Sample, and John (Amanda) Pinciaro, all of the Jamestown area, Brianna VanStry of Key West, FL, Adam and Blake Davidson, and Abigail, Allison, and Jacob Potts, of Warren, OH; six great grandchildren; her ex-husband who remained a friend, Bob Cordosi, of Jamestown; as well as her sister-in-law, Kathy Cordosi.

Besides her parents, Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stuart “Stu” Davidson, whom she married April 7, 1984, and who passed away September 20, 2014; her step daughter, Pam Potts; as well as her “sister,” Diane Parinella.

Gay’s comfort in living at home is a direct reflection of her son, Mark’s, unending and constant care throughout her illness.

The funeral for Gay will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 4-7pm Wednesday, July 23, at Lind’s. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
