Dolores Jean Fessenden Card
Dolores Jean Fessenden Card passed away July 8, 2025, at her home with family by her side. She was born on Nov. 30, 1936, in Jamestown, New York, the daughter of the late Albro N. Fessenden and Irene L. Bernard Fessenden.
A 1955 graduate of Jamestown High School, Dolores earned her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Degree from the WCA Nursing School. Prior to her retirement she was employed by the Presbyterian Home/Lutheran Social Services in Jamestown.
She was a past member of the Greater Chautauqua Quilt Guild which included the Westfield and Busti Guilds and a long-time member of the Jamestown YWCA Quilters Group. Quilting is where she thrived and made many good friends.
Camp Street United Methodist Church of Jamestown knew her as a longtime member.
An active participant at the Jamestown YMCA, she cherished activities of all sorts, including SilverSneakers and water aerobics.
She loved to take care of her beautiful gardens at her home that she and her husband built in 1973 on Swede Hill in Jamestown.
Surviving are her four children, Dr. Cheryl A. L. Card (Peter Lampke) of South Salem, NY, Douglas W. Card of Buffalo, NY, Darrell W. Card (Debbie) of Chalfont, PA, and Christine E. Card (Rob Hofgren) of Rochester, NY; her five grandchildren, Douglas W. Card II of Jamestown, NY, Miranda C. Lampke (Coby Gould) of New York, NY, Shelby L. Card and Sean C. Card of Chalfont, PA and Nathan R. Hofgren of Rochester, NY; as well as two sisters, Elaine F. Carlson (Eugene) and Kathleen J. Fessenden (Henry Mole), both of Jamestown, NY.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband E. Douglas Card, whom she married Feb. 1, 1950, and who died on Sept. 14, 2022.
The memorial service for Dolores will be at 12pm Noon on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Lind Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation for one hour prior to the service from 11am-12pm Saturday at Lind’s. Following the service, there will be a gathering and quilt display at The Salvation Army in Jamestown.
A Celebration of Life, including a quilt show, will take place on a future date.
