Daniel L. McMurray
Daniel L. McMurray, 74, of Jamestown, NY, passed away July 12, 2025, in UPMC Chautauqua after a lengthy illness. He was born in Jamestown on January 7, 1951, the son of the late Frank and Beverly Bruno McMurray.
A graduate of the JHS Class of 1969, Daniel attended JCC, then receiving his master’s degree in counseling from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
An iron worker for several years, Daniel was then a counselor in Carbondale, focused on drug and alcohol counseling at WCA, and retired through counseling in advocacy for LPNs and their needs at Job Corps in Cassadaga.
Spending time with his family gave Daniel great joy, especially when it involved watching Buffalo Bills football on Sundays. Through travels to Mexico, Daniel also learned the skill of jewelry-making with silver, creating remarkable pieces in his later years.
Daniel will be missed by his sisters, Sharon L. (Douglas) Bergstrom and Kathleen L. (John) McMurray; his nieces, Jennifer (Paul) Hill and Jessica (Michael) Shimmel; his nephew, Erik Bergstrom; several great nieces and nephews; as well as his cousin, Lisa (Michael) Corbin.
A private family graveside was observed.
