Case A Foster III, 95, of Ashville, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Carnegie, PA, the son of the late Case A. Foster Jr and Ruth Hess Foster.

Case had attended Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, PA. He then proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1952, serving on the USS Tanager, a minesweeper. He then earned a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Bucknell University. His engineering career included employment with Bell Aircraft, Marlin Rockwell Bearings,Blackstone Corporation, and Valeo Engine Cooling. He also worked for over twenty years part-time for Sears in Lakewood, NY.

Case belonged to the Jamestown Jaycees, the Vikings Lodge, Koinonia of Chautauqua County, the Mayville American Legion Post 493 which he was a fifty-plus-year member, a former member of the Power Squadron Club, Case was an active member of Hurlbut Memorial Community UMC where he was a long-time trustee and affectionately known as the “Cookie Man” at their summer luncheon program.

Case is survived by his three children, Paulson S (Maggie) Foster, David (Valerie) Foster, and Marjorie A (Jim) Wright, three grandchildren, Jaime L (Peter) Nelson, Jenna C (Sean) Bell, and Stephen C (Hannah) Foster, two step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ruhlman Foster, whom he married on Aug. 28, 1954, in Warren, PA.

The family will receive friends for calling hours from 4-7 PM on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S Erie St). A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at the Magnolia Cemetery. The Rev Rachel Stuart will officiate.An end of summer Celebration of Life will be held at Hurlbut Church and will be announced.
