Walter Packard

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Walter E. Packard, 85, of Falconer, a devoted husband, father, cherished grandfather, and beloved friend, who left us peacefully at UPMC Chautauqua on June 3.

Born in Waretown, NJ, to Isaac and Emily (McCullough) Packard. Walt lived a life marked by kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was a man of quiet wisdom and steady presence. Walt was always ready with a warm smile, a helping hand, or a listening ear.

He attended schools in New Jersey and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1959. Prior to retirement he was employed by Jamestown Metal Products. During retirement he enjoyed working at Cancer Care of WNY and the Chautauqua County Library System.

As a father, Walt was a pillar of support and guidance to his friends and family. He was best known to his family for always wanting to take care of everyone.

He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. For many years Walt collected antique pocket watches and clocks and enjoyed that hobby very much. He spent most of his time in the yard doing endless gardening and watering flowers next to his wife Debbie. He took great pride in his family’s accomplishments. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the stories he shared, and the love he gave so freely.

Walt is survived by his wife Deborah (Till) Packard whom he married July 6, 1990; a son, Ronald Packard of Kennedy; daughter Nikki Packard Pitts of Falconer; three step children Diane (Jaime) Russo, Scott (Shannon) Costantino, and Terri Costantino (Bradley) Johnson; grandchildren, Shayna MacDonald, Cassie Packard, Madison Pitts, Logan and Jonah Johnson, Shane, Sullivan, Saxton, and Siahnna Costantino; four step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

Walt is proceeded in death by his parents, his son Walter Randall Packard, a grandson Randall Lee Packard, and a brother Phil McCullough.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Rev. Brandon Meacham pastor of Park Methodist Church will officiate.

Memorial contributions can be donated to the Falconer Volunteer Fire Department.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
