Suzanne La Baron

Suzanne La Baron passed away peacefully on Oct. 21, 2024, in Portland, Oregon, after a long and courageous battle with health issues.

Born in Jamestown, New York, on March 8, 1953, Suzanne was a remarkable woman known for her kindness, honesty, love, and unwavering helpful nature. After achieving sobriety herself, she dedicated her life to helping others overcome chemical dependency. She pursued a career in counseling and found her calling at the Letty Owings Center in Portland, Oregon. There, she provided guidance and support to single mothers struggling with addiction, helping them rebuild their lives and care for their children. Suzanne was deeply proud of this work, which embodied her lifelong commitment to compassion and service.

Suzanne also took great pride in raising her two sons, Branden and Chad Maggio. As a single mother, she created a loving, safe home not only for them but for many of their friends. She instilled values of kindness and empathy that continue to live on through her family.

During her illness, Suzanne was lovingly cared for by her devoted husband, Kevin La Baron, whose unwavering support and compassion provided her with great comfort and strength throughout the most difficult times. Their 30-year partnership was a testament to enduring love, commitment, and shared resilience.

She is survived by her husband Kevin La Baron of Camas, Washington; her sons Chad Maggio of Vancouver, Washington, and Branden (Natalie) Maggio of Busti, New York; her brother Douglas Anderson of Celoron, New York; and her beloved grandchildren: Mollie, Maximus, Masen, Owen, and Rheese Maggio.

A private ceremony will be held to honor Suzanne’s life, during which her ashes will be laid to rest in the places she loved most.

In honor of Suzanne’s generous spirit, the family asks that you perform an act of kindness for someone you may not know. It is in these small, quiet moments of care that her legacy will continue to shine.

Her spirit, strength, and generosity will be remembered always.
