Paula C. Johnson

Paula C. (Mahoney) Johnson, 77, of Brookdale, formerly of Frewsburg, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at UPMC Chautauqua surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1948 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Roger J. and Pauline A. (Anderson) Mahoney.

Paula was a 1967 graduate of Frewsburg Central School.

Prior to retirement, she was employed as a nurses aide at WCA Hospital and Frewsburg Rest Home.

She is a member of Fluvanna Community Church and a former member of Wheeler Hill Community Church.

Paula was a tomboy growing up and was often a better player than most of the boys in sports. She had a lifelong love for sports and was an avid Buffalo Bills and Notre Dame fan. She always had a smile on her face and if others were going through tough times or having a difficult day she had a way of cheering them up and putting a smile on their face. Playing bingo with friends at Brookdale was always enjoyable for her and she looked forward to spending time with family.

Paula is survived by her son Carl A. “CJ” Johnson, Jr.; two grandchildren Connor N. Johnson and Mikayla P. Johnson; a sister Ann (David) Rublee; two brothers John (Kathy) Mahoney and Tom (Denise) Mahoney; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl A. Johnson, Sr. whom passed away on Oct. 19, 2016 and an aunt Alice (Goonie) Dickinson.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Fluvanna Community Church. Pastor Todd Wentworth will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

Friends will be received for two hours prior (9-11am) to the service on Saturday at the church.

Paula’s family would like to thank the staff of Randolph Manor, UPMC Chautauqua including the DaVita Dialysis Center, Brookdale, and Buffalo General Hospital for wonderful care.

Memorials may be made to Fluvanna Community Church Building Fund, 3363 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, NY 14701.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.
