Nancy Rhae (Patterson) Dimicco

Nancy Rhae Patterson Dimicco, age 88, of Mayville, NY and The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on Apr. 6, 2025 at Cornerstone Hospice, The Villages, FL. Nancy was surrounded by her family and friends when she passed.
She was born on Mar. 26, 1937 in Olean, NY, the daughter of the late Darold and Allene Sealy Patterson of Bolivar, NY and Melbourne, FL, and younger sister of Paul Patterson.
When she was young, Nancy’s family moved to Niagara Falls, NY where her parents worked at Bell Aircraft during WWII. After many years in Niagara Falls, the family returned to Olean where Nancy graduated from Olean High School in 1955. After attending Geneseo State College for one year, Nancy returned to Olean where she joined the First National Bank as a teller.
It was at the bank where she met Robert (Bob) Dimicco, whom she married in 1960. Nancy and Bob settled in Olean for many years, bringing four boys into the world. The family moved to Newfield, NY, then Harpursville, NY and then to Chautauqua, NY as Bob’s career in education progressed from teacher to principal to superintendent.
Nancy’s focus shifted from raising her sons to professional pursuits once her children graduated from Chautauqua Central School. She and Bob owned and operated the Shenango Guest House in the Chautauqua Institution and Nancy was also a hairdresser and real estate agent.
Nancy and Bob were both active members of the Chautauqua Fire Department. She especially enjoyed working the chicken barbeques during the summer season and the camaraderie of the volunteer community.
She was far and away the best golfer in the family with a smooth stroke off the tee and a deft touch on the green, winning many trophies and awards at tournaments around Chautauqua County and The Villages.
Nancy was afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease during the last years of her life. She found joy and comfort in listening to great tunes from the Andrews Sisters and many others from the 1940’s and 1950’s, often singing or dancing to them with one of her grandchildren, friends, or sons. On her good days, she had a smile for everyone, kept her delightful sense of humor and relished in eating and drinking anything chocolate.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2020 and is survived by her son Robert and wife Catalina (Vargas) of Saratoga, CA, granddaughters Kimberly (Joe) and Kara, and great granddaughter Brynn; her son David of Mayville; her son Richard and wife Eileen (Reichart) of Charleston, SC, grandson Dominik and granddaughter Brianna; and her son Daniel and wife Ann (Martin) of Las Vegas, NV, granddaughter Abrielle and grandson Alexander; her brother Paul Patterson of Melbourne, FL, and nieces Sharon Patterson Abdon and Dawn Patterson and nephew Steven Patterson.
The family will receive friends and visitors at Freay Funeral home, 139 S Erie St in Mayville, NY on Saturday, July 5, 2025 from 11 am to 2pm. On Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 11 am there will be a Roman Catholic mass for Nancy at St. Mary of Lourde’s 22 E Chautauqua St in Mayville, NY.
