John T. Adams

John T. Adams

John T. Adams, born Sept. 21, 1943, to Joseph T., and Norma Agnoli Adams, passed away on June 8, 2025.

He was born in Nu Mine, PA. The family moved to Lakewood in 1955, and he graduated from Southwestern in 1961. While there, John was very active in all sports, including being a quarterback, captain, and pitcher. He had a major interest in baseball and was even scouted. John held the record for over 1,000 yards passing in football from 1961-1983. He never forgot Nu Mine, that little coal mining town he dearly missed. He spoke of it often and enjoyed going back to visit. John was always a country boy at heart.

While in Jamestown, he met the love of his life Roslyn Giambra. They were married on November 7, 1964. Roe and John spent the next 50 beautiful years together until her passing in 2015. They enjoyed traveling to Bonita Springs, Florida.

Before retirement in 2001, John worked in management positions. He was also a proprietor of Carl’s Newsroom from 1966-1969 and Collins Sport Shop from 1977-1989. In later years, John volunteered at Temple School in Kennedy, which he enjoyed immensely.

John’s love for baseball drew him to the Jamestown Babe Ruth League for 23 years, where he was first a manager, then board member and president for one year. He was a founding member of the Jamestown Babe Ruth World Series Committee at its inception.

He is survived by two daughters, Debra Lynn and Lorraine Marie (Mark); a sister-in-law, Ruth Adams; nephews Jeff (Theresa), and Jason (Christy); great-nephews Tanner, Jared, and Wyatt; and a great-niece Macey, who all reside in South Carolina. He will also be missed by his precious cat, Addie.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Roslyn M. Adams and a brother Joseph S. Adams.

John had many health challenges throughout the years but always pulled through because he still possessed that amazing, natural athletic drive and perseverance. We’d like to thank John’s friends and family who were always there for him. He loved and appreciated it very much, especially his caregiver, Carmen Gomez, best friend Bob Cordosi, friend Mark Kiendl, neighbors Courtney and Matt Barron and the Johnson Keystone crew.

John is now in heaven, sitting on a beach or playing slots at the casino, with his beloved wife, enjoying eternity.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 12 pm in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received two hours prior to the service from 10 am to 12 pm in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY, 14701.
