Jerald J. Green

Jerald J. Green

Jerald Judd Green, 88, of Blythewood, SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 5, 2025.

Born on March 13, 1937, in Jamestown, NY, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Roberta Dennison Green. He was a proud graduate of Falconer Central High School, Jamestown Community College and Fredonia State University. He was employed for over 30 years at the American Sterilizer Corporation, working his way up from the factory floor to the position of controller.

His love for family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Crandall Green; his son Brett Green (Lindy) of Charleston, SC; his son Geoff Green (Patty) of Vestavia Hills, AL. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren, Amy Hollar, Kevin Green (Tiffany), Erik Green (Jordan), Sophia Green and Nathan Green. He also had one great-grandchild, Cora Hollar, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his sisters Debbie Pavlock and Barb Avery. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Green and his sister Joyce Cowen.

Jerry was always up for an adventure, traveling with his family to many destinations across the United States and around the globe. He is fondly remembered for his calm amid the storm as he made his way through the roundabouts of London, driving a big orange camper through the narrow streets of Rome or riding a roller coaster at one of many amusement parks.

Jerry had a deep love for playing and watching sports. He was on the both the high school baseball and football teams. As a father he spent endless hours playing catch with his kids and many a summer evening teaching them to golf. He continued to play softball into his 50s, giving his kids the honor of being his teammate on later teams. He was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians/Guardians and would make annual trips to Cleveland with his family to watch them play. He was good enough to pass that “curse” onto one of his kids. After he moved to South Carolina he cheered on both Clemson and South Carolina in all their athletic endeavors.

Jerry grew up in the Kennedy Methodist Church. He was a long-time member and leader at Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and Zion Covenant Church in Jamestown, NY. Most recently, Jerry was a devoted charter member of Newkirk Presbyterian Church, where he found community, faith, and fellowship. For more than 50 years he was a member of the Kennedy Oddfellows.
