Gregg Evans

Gregg Evans, a devoted father, brother, and loyal friend, passed away in 2025 in Ashville, New York, near the peaceful shores of Chautauqua Lake, where he spent the last three decades of his life.

Born and raised in Portville, NY, Gregg attended Portville Central School from kindergarten through his graduation in 1976. He earned a degree in Hotel Management from Alfred State College (then Alfred Tech), where he studied from 1976 to 1978.

In 1980, Gregg moved to New Jersey and worked at Okonite Industries in Paterson. From 1986 to 1995, he lived in California and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in St. Helena. In 1995, he returned to Western New York and made his home in Ashville, where he lived until his passing.

Gregg will be remembered for his quiet, caring nature. He loved the outdoors, the serenity of lake life, boating, and the company of family and friends. In addition, he was an avid reader of books about World War II.

He was a proud member of both the Moose Lodge and the American Legion, where he found a strong sense of camaraderie and community.

Gregg is survived by his son, Ryan Michael Evans of Napa, CA; his siblings, David Evans of Tijeras, NM, Richard Evans of Milford, PA, and Cindy Watson of Pittsfield, PA; and by many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Delores Evans, and his sister, Dawn Evans Joseph.

A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
