Gail C. Frank

Gail C. Frank, 92, of Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility, formerly of 108 N. Laurel Ave., Lakewood, passed away last Monday night (June 23, 2025) at Heritage Green, where he had been living the past year.

He was born on Oct. 20, 1932, in Sugar Grove, Pa., the son of Kenneth and Erma (Wilcox) Frank. He was a 1951 graduate of Sugar Grove High School, and began a 39-year career at the former SM Flickenger Co. in Sept. of 1951. He married Florence L. (Dobson) Frank on Feb. 6, 1953. Shortly after that, he served in the U.S. Army Special Services from Apr. of 1953 to Mar. of 1955 during the Korean War period . . . and served as an ambulance driver and transported prisoners in Munich, Germany for a year and a half.

In later years . . . he was a bus driver for the former Carrier Coach. He played several sports in high school, and was part of a traveling basketball team during his time in Germany. He was an avid bowler, and was a director for the Jamestown Area Bowling Association for several years. He was a fan of NASCAR, the Buffalo Bills, and the Detroit Tigers baseball team.

He is survived by a son, Terry G. Frank of Lakewood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, on Nov. 4, 2013 . . . his parents, two brothers, Don and Jerry Frank, and a sister, Onalee Frank — all of Sugar Grove. In addition to his wife he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia of Olean, NY on Sept. 26, 2015.

Family and friends will be received for a time of visitation at the Lakewood United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 11 – 1pm where a funeral service will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Mike Childs, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow and will be private in the Wesleyan Cemetery in Sugar Grove, Pa. The family suggests those wishing to place a memorial may please do so to the Lakewood United Methodist Church, 164 Shadyside Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750. McKinney Funeral Home, 54 W.
