Doris Jane Holthouse

Doris Jane Holthouse, 88, of Clymer, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Heritage Park in Jamestown, NY.

Born July 8, 1936, to the late Jesse and Ruth (Einink) Holthouse, Doris was a 1957 graduate of Clymer Central School. She was employed by the Clymer Bag Company and Peek ‘n Peak during her working years.

Doris is survived by her close friend for over 30 years, Willis Koren; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Holthouse, who was married to Glen; and her nieces and nephews: Ann (Bart) Neckers, Mark (Valerie) Holthouse, Steve (Laurie) Holthouse, Nancy Holthouse, Brian (Hilary) Holthouse, and Mary (Brian) Jantzi, along with numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews. She held a special place in her heart for her extended family, caring for them deeply and embracing them as her own.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Merle (Edith), Glen, and Ralph (Carole) Holthouse, and her niece, Bethann Holthouse.

A lifelong member of Abbe Reformed Church, Doris was recognized for her many years of perfect attendance in Sunday School and contributed as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Women’s Guild, and visited those who were homebound with church materials, and a smile and chat. She also regularly attended evening services at Niobe Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed bowling, caring for her cats, and attending the Warren County Fair with Willis. She was an active member of the Broken Straw Tractor Club, where she served as social chairperson. She enjoyed providing transportation for others. An avid knitter, Doris lovingly crafted many afghans and dishcloths, generously sharing them with others as a symbol of her kindness and care.

Family and friends are invited to Abbe Reformed Church, 595 Clymer-Sherman Road for visitation on Saturday, June 14 from 1- 2 pm followed by a funeral at 2 pm. Interment will be at Holland Cemetery with a lunch to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Abbe Reformed Church.
