Charles R. Scholeno 93, of Falconer, passed away Wednesday (June 18, 2025) at Heritage Green Nursing facility, with his family by his side.
A lifelong area resident, Charles was born Jan. 18, 1932 and was the son of the late Frank and Louise Barone Scholeno. Charles was a 1949 graduate of Falconer High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War.
“Chuck” or “Charlie”, as many of his friends called him, was masterful with his hands.
In addition to being a motorcycle mechanic, he specialized in building model boats and airplanes, many of which he designed himself. He loved sports cars and attending auto shows.
In 1964 Charles founded Hectors Cycle Shop, with his good friend Hector Mareri. They were in business together for over 30 years.
Charles along with his late wife Sandra, were very proud of their home.
Built in 1968 By the Reimondo brothers, they resided there for over 50 years.
In his later years Charles liked to go for drives and report to all, what was going on “around town”. Charles enjoyed going to Button Valley, to fly model airplanes and also along with his good friend Wayne Reimondo, would navigate model boats on Wayne’s pond.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife Sandra P. (Meabon) Scholeno, whom he married on Oct. 2, 1965 and who passed away Feb. 26, 2019; His parents Frank and Louise Scholeno and his brother Frank Scholeno Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Lisa Matteo-Digirolamo (Michael Digirolamo) of Jamestown; 2 sisters Phyllis Scholeno of Falconer; Janice (Edward) Fatica of Florida; a brother Vincent (Kitty) Scholeno of Frewsburg: his sister-in-law’s Karen Scholeno of Lakewood; Arlie Caswell, Marcia (Robert) Ohman both of Falconer, the latter two, whom he referred to as, “The Girls”. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his “grand-doggie” Tootie.
Visitation will not be observed.
